Kiss me, Kate. No, not the Cole Porter musical (I hate that show, but watch the movie for a young chorus boy by the name of Bob Fosse), a "gender friendly" adaptation of Taming of the Shrew by the King's County Shakespeare company. Fellow theater nerd Liz Maestri and I both enjoyed the show, which was in South Oxford Space, a converted mansion venue that reminded us both of shows we'd seen in D.C., but as far as befriending the genders, the main difference I noticed was Petruchio conquors Katherine not by being a withholding hardass, but kind of by being a simp. The actors highlighted the comedy in their characters, and I rather like a production featuring sumptuous costumes on a bare stage. This is me finally venturing beyond Broadway, off-Broadway, off-off, etc., and exploring my own back yard in Brooklyn. It is also the Economiser exploring the $12 ticket, which this show was worth. Hey, in New York, that's $1 more than a movie for live entertainment, y'all.

This evening, I'm meeting Andy to polish the script for the last time. (Dad, in your terms, we are now buffing the tire rims.) Then we go to the Writers Guild to register it. After that, we can talk at will about it, as well as start trying to sell it. My friend John asked me what I thought the chances of selling it are. "I think zero," I said, "and Andy thinks 100%, so I guess it's 50/50." I hope that's true! Even I can flip a coin and get heads once in a while. Cheerie-bye!
